Hello Reader,
I have some interesting information today that I haven't seen shared before.
One of my contacts at the largest camera retailer in North America was able to share their internal sales rankings for lenses and cameras for all of the major camera brands.
The data reveals interesting information and curious trends, such as that the best-selling lens isn't made by Canon, Sony, Fuji, or Nikon. It's a 3rd party lens!
Then there is the curious fixation that Canon shooters seem to have with a particular focal length. An obsession not shared by other brands.
I thought all of it was quite fascinating, and it's the kind of data I have never seen shared on any other photography website. Check out the lists and my commentary at the links below.
How does your lens and camera kit compare?
I also want to thank all the people that emailed me a few weeks ago when I mentioned that I was heading to Australia this month. I had some wonderful location recommendations. I couldn't be more excited for this trip. In the next email I'll send you my packing list so you can see what I'm taking for three weeks of wildlife photography.
Cheers,
Dan

A black-chinned hummingbird from last year's workshop. Hello Reader, Last year, I led a fantastic photo workshop alongside Aaron Baggenstos to photograph the beautiful hummingbirds of British Columbia. We stayed in a beautiful mountain lodge, ate great food, made new friends, and shot thousands and thousands of photos. It was such a blast that we're doing it again in June, and we still have a couple of spaces available. A stunning male calliope hummingbird from last year's workshop. A female...
